Run your team chat

Who this is for: coaches and team managers. Every team gets a chat the moment the team is created; you do not set it up.

The team chat’s members are the team’s roster, and their chat roles follow their team roles. Open the chat and tap the info icon to see Chat details:

  • Admins and Members, with each person’s role: Owner, Admin, Manager, Coach, Support staff, Member.
  • Also visible to: parents and guardians of players in the chat. They can read everything without being members. This is deliberate, for safeguarding, and the list is there so you always know who can see the conversation.

Because the chat mirrors the roster, you add or remove people by changing the team in the admin portal (or asking your club to), not from the chat. Roster members cannot be removed from the chat directly.

  • Long-press a message of your own to delete it for everyone. There is no time limit.
  • You cannot edit a sent message; delete it and send again.
  • You cannot delete other people’s messages, even as a chat admin. If something needs removing, ask the person, or ask the club.

In Chat details, the Notifications switch turns push notifications on or off for this chat only. It affects only you. Members can do the same, so a quiet member may simply have muted the chat.

Download Transcript saves the whole conversation as a text file. Anyone in the chat can do this. Useful at the end of a season or if the club asks for a record.

The chat’s owner sees two more actions at the bottom of Chat details:

  • Archive Chat stops new messages until it is reopened. Archived chats stay readable under Archived Chats.
  • Close Chat ends it for everyone and cannot be undone.

An announcement goes to every member of the season and comes from the club’s Admins. Coaches and managers cannot post announcements from the app. For anything team-only, the team chat is the place.
